all good things

I want to thank each and every person who's ever participated here and given comments. I want to thank dea_liberty for starting this place, and I want to thank everyone who ever encouraged me and gave feedback and thoughts on ka100.

This forum will remain static as an archive; you won't be able to post, but you can read and enjoy the drabbles here. We have over 500 posted pieces and I'm happy to keep them alive for future readers. And if you see something here you like, by all means seek out that author and let them know. Also, there is also an excellent archive and source for fic at King Arthur Fan Fiction. It's not very busy but a good place to find other stories and meet other authors.

The King Arthur fandom will not die, but merely be seen and loved in other places. I will still write in my journal, and I can't imagine that most of our prolific writers won't do the same.

I cannot begin to express my love for this fandom and how many good and wonderful people I've met because of it. Thanks for letting me show that here for so many years.

Cheers to everyone. I raise my wine to you all.

Challenge #12 Response - Dawn

Title: Runaway
Word Count: 100
Challenge: Prompt #12 - Dawn
Disclaimer: Alas, these characters are not mine. I write not for monetary gain but for the love of the characters, the love of writing, and the love of sharing stories.
Rating: G
Characters/Pairings: Tristran, Arthur
Author's Notes: My thanks to isabel77 for the icon.

This drabble is dedicated to sasha_b and all the members of this community. It was here I first began to write King Arthur fics and have greatly enjoyed my time here. It’s been a long, long while since my last post and lately I haven't been as supportive as I could have. I am grateful for your patience. Saying goodbye is something I don't do well, so I won’t. Instead, I offer a story from our young knights.

Mod Post

Alrighty guys.

After much deliberation and much thought and much worry about this - I think our little drabble comm has gone the way of the dinosaur.

This place was created on August 2, 2005, and we had a really good run.

Unless someone is really interested in taking on ka100, I am going to shut this puppy down here in a few weeks. That will give you time to get whatever drabbles off here you would like to save.

I want to thank every person who commented and participated over the years and tell you I really did enjoy running this place. I love the King Arthur fandom and always will. I hope it continues on in some form or another for as long as there are fans.

If you truly are interested in taking on the community, PM me or send me an email. This place has been my baby for a long time and I want someone to love it as much as I did. *laughs* Cheers muchly for everyone's input, creativity and time. I really enjoyed being a part of it.

Prompt Twelve

Here you go folks.

Dawn by Frank Dicksee

The Roman Army 368-565AD

While in the armies of the east and the west the cavalry reigned supreme the infantry underwent change, too. Much of the heavy infantry survived. But for newly added infantry units the armour got lighter, reducing protection but allowing for swifter movement across the battlefield. And more and more soldiers were trained as archers in contrast to the legionary training of the old army. For one of the chief weapons against the cavalry charges of the barbarians appeared to be showering them with arrows.

"You think more of Roman blood than you do of ours?"

- Bors, King Arthur

Use one or two or all three of these to prompt your writing. As always, you are free to answer any prompt at any time. Enjoy and happy writing!

Comm Update

Okay guys, we're going monthly as the few people who did give me their opinions seemed to think that was a good idea.

Starting now, I will put up one prompt list a month. Feel free to answer any prompt anytime, but the theme/ideas/pictures will change each four weeks.

Thanks for your participation so far and I hope this will help us be able to write more frequently (myself included)!

Next prompt up shortly.
